Implants for the Restoration of Vision
9th Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Society of Biomedical Technology (ELEVIT 2021), September 9-11, 2021
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this review is to focus on the role of these implants in terms of three components: 1) the basic principles and pros and cons of implants either in the bulb or in the rest of the visual pathway and their contribution to the restoration of any discontinuity in the visual pathway, 2) the functional and surgical results that have been recorded to date, and 3) the prospects for development in the given field of research. Finally, a SWOT analysis is performed based on all the above.
