ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11/M11675, 71st MPEG meeting, Hong Kong, China, January 2005.
ABSTRACT
This report presents an approach in the framework of the MPEG-21 standard to establish the necessary infrastructure to support the virtual value chain for sports events broadcasting over wireless and digital television networks, offering valuable and revenue-building services. The MELISA systems caters for a multitude of services related to cross-media sports broadcasting featuring visual enhancements, interactive advertising and sports-related in-play real time betting services over digital television and next generation mobile network infrastructures. The identification of the overall objectives of MELISA via MPEG-21 standardization will clarify the applicable tools, specified to accommodate the MELISA project according to the standardization prototypes and its involvement in standardization activities as well. Furthermore the present report will bring up appropriate MPEG-21 tools for discussion in the MELISA consortium.
