ABSTRACT

| The teacher- and student-based nature of current learning technology systems necessitates the personalized access to annotated educational material. The development of techniques for categorization of learning content tackles this issue. This dissertation proposes additional techniques for automatic users' evaluation, through the analysis of their behavior (head movements, attention) and for user pro file's analysis towards an e ffective learning procedure. The requirement for automatic categorization of multimedia content led us to use image processing and data mining methods. In this framework, we decided to use pictures of cultural, historical and religious,content. The dissertation proposes a system of facial features' detection, based onexperts knowledge and a technique of digital watermarking for educational semantic content protection.
